Stopped for a lunch on the way to our weekend away. We wasn’t disappointed! The pub is lovely, food is delicious and the staff are really friendly.

Sat in the back garden and ordered from the new outdoor kitchen and shared some tasty halloumi sticks and fried squid before we ordered our mains. The Carribbean chicken, refreshing slaw, guacamole and yummy sweet potato fries. No grease and all tasted fresh, well seasoned and not heavy at all, good portion. Nice quiet atmosphere and very friendly staff, all fairly priced and it was nice knowing they had a dehydrator for the fruit rather than it being bought in. Seems like great care is taken for even the small things, will come back.

The Boot is a great location to visit. The food is exceptional, it may be on the more expensive side but it is worth it. The main courses were all delicious with large portions; the southern fried chicken burger in particular had a very large and succulent peice of chicken. The desserts were all outstanding and the white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was easily the best cheesecake I've had in years. Although situated next to a fairly busy country road, you wouldn't know from the inside as the wooden beams and traditional decor gives the place a quiet, cosy feel. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a meal out.

Sunday lunch was great. Huge plate of tasty roast beef , veg and Yorkshire pud. Wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks ( kambutcha included) available. As we were at a table for two we were crammed into a walk way, but the service and food made up for it.

Had Sunday lunch for 12 people during a stay at the nearby Concrete castle . Atmoshere was good , where we were seated near the kitchen was comfortable , light and spacious. Service was good ,drinks and meals were delivered as ordered . Our group had a mixture of starters , mains and desserts both meat and vegetarian . The food was excellent , in fact a few of us made a point of complementing the chef in person . The total cost was very reasonable given the quality and our total satisfaction . One of our group lives in Colchester and is already planning a return visit . The rest of us live further afield but will definately visit again if we are in the neighbourhood . Highly recommend .

Very good and tasty food, good prices, nice location. I loved the fish and chips (the local name was something like "beer battered haddock"), and the best was the "mixed grill". Maybe the beer needs some improvement, but I didn't taste all the types (degustibus non disputandum). Overall, it was great.

Had a 3 course Sunday lunch and it was amazing from start to finish. The service was absolutely AMAZING, when I asked for the non alcoholic options I was given a load of options that the lady recalled without having to go and check...Great knowledge ! She was chatty and friendly and nothing was too much trouble, service was quick without being rushed, I wish I had taken the waitress name, she is a credit to the place. The food was just brilliant, tasted so fresh and you could really tell it was quality ingredients...silly to say but the carrots tasted really carroty and the parsnips so parsnipy !! Haha The roast dinners are a really good portion size and well worth the price. Belly pork was cooked to perfection, succulent meat and crispy crackling. The beef was rare, melted in your mouth and full of flavour. The dessert was just as brilliant, sticky toffee pudding and the waitress was not thrown when my friend asked for pouring cream as well as ice cream with her dessert...nothing was a problem. Absolutely brilliant place, only negative thing is its not in my village where I live !! Haha I just need to move to Freston !!
